Clare Lindop
'ClareBear'
A pioneer for women in Australian racing, Clare ‘Clarebear’ Lindop lays claim to two important firsts. Lindop became the first woman to ride in a Victoria Derby, and then the first to win it. She was the first female jockey to ride in a Melbourne Cup, and became the first female jockey to win a Metropolitan Jockeys’ Premiership in Adelaide (2004/05). Starting in country Victoria in 1995, Lindop has ridden more than 1400 winners in her career.
